Funding for Film Archive Projects on Offer

Hundreds of thousands of pounds in funding is being offered to Northwest organisations in a bid to increase public access to our screen heritage.

A total of £276,000 is being made available over the next two years through the Digital Film Archive Fund (DFAF), which is being offered by the UK Film Council with Lottery Funding, and supported by Northwest Vision and Media.

“DFAF will allow Northwest organisations to apply for up to £70,000 in funding for heritage projects which provide an innovative range of new opportunities and events for Northwest audiences,” explains Deborah Parker, Vision and Media’s Education, Audiences and Film Heritage Co-ordinator.

“This is the first time we’ve been able to offer this fund to the region, and we’re looking forward to receiving ambitious applications from organisations which are as committed as we are to broadening public access to our screen heritage,” adds Deborah.

Screen heritage is held in many different places including film archives, universities, record offices, museums and libraries. “This fund is about making that content accessible in the digital age, regardless of where it is held. We’re also hoping to further explore material from more diverse communities within our region,” adds Deborah.

Deborah will be holding an application surgery at the Vision and Media offices in Manchester on 20th January between 2pm and 5pm, prior to the first application deadline to discuss your project proposals.
