Greater Manchester Film Office
The Greater Manchester Film Office was established in 2002 and
has always been the busiest of our five Film Offices. The area is
the fastest growing sub-region for TV production, with a staggering
48% increase in the amount of film days in 2006, compared to
2004.
New dramas attracted by the Manchester Film Office included
Kudos’ Life on Mars by BBC, Poppy
Shakespeare (Cowboy Films/C4), and Waterloo Road by
Shed Productions.
Greater Manchester has continued to build on its solid reputation
for being the first choice for television dramas in the north of
England, the main source of the region’s filming
activity.
“It’s the incredible talent, both in front and behind
the camera, that continues to be the driving force in attracting
significant quality dramas to Greater Manchester,” explains
Film Liaison Officer, Susan Williams.
“Production companies are finally recognising the true
potential of Greater Manchester as a filming location, and
it’s brilliant that we’re so busy.”
